'I think he'll stick around': Giannis trade rumors loom as fans grapple with fact he may leave Milwaukee

CBS 58

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Just ahead of the 2026 NBA Draft, Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo could be traded -- that's according to ESPN reporter Shams Charania. But what does Milwaukee think about the potential trade?

The hope that Giannis sticks around is alive and well amongst some of the fans CBS 58 spoke with Monday morning, June 22.

The general consensus amongst those around Fiserv Forum is, "do whatever it takes, but keep the man that brought a ring to Milwaukee."

Giannis has been with the Bucks for 13 years. He was drafted in 2013 and took the Bucks to their first championship win in 50 years in 2021.

But since that win, Giannis has been plagued by trade rumors.

It seems every year we have the conversation; we hear trade rumors that Giannis is leaving the city.

For some fans we spoke with, they say they're still holding onto hope.

Others say if he leaves, hold onto the memories of what he brought to Milwaukee.

"He ain't leaving yet. So, he's gonna stay. Like no, we family. He signed up for Milwaukee, he committed to it, and honestly, I think with him, we stronger, and with us, he's stronger too. I think he'll stick around for another time," said Jamira Jabers, Bucks fan.

"We got all this because of him. And he's the first franchise player to bring us a ring, so I think we need to do what he wants," said fan Brandon Tate.

“Oh I feel like it weighs on him and I feel like it weighs on the fans and they’re just ready for it to end,” said Tyler Adrian, Bucks fan. “If he goes, he goes, just gotta be grateful for what he brought to the city and everything he did for the Bucks.”

“Let Giannis decide if he wants to leave or not,” said Talaja Irvine, Bucks fan.

The NBA Draft starts Tuesday, June 23, so if a trade were to happen, it could happen at any time.
