‘I think this is our year’: Packers fans react to Micah Parsons trade
ST. FRANCIS, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The St. Francis High School football team played their home opener on Thursday night, Aug. 28, and while the focus was on the game, you could not go far before you heard the name Micah Parsons.
“We got Micah Parsons, so I think we’re going to win the super bowl, I think this is our year,” St. Francis HS student Alejandro Acosta said.
Keenan Sumlin is the St. Francis High School strength and conditioning Coach, but he is behind enemy lines.
Sumlin has been a diehard Cowboys fan his whole life and heard about the trade a couple hours before kickoff.
“The last two hours I’ve got nonstop phone calls, text messages, everybody’s been asking me are you okay,” Sumlin said.
Sumlin was able to brush off the news and stay locked in for Thursday night’s game.
“Two hours ago, was two hours ago, we got a game to win now,” Sumlin said.
Dave Bock was at the game on Thursday night; he’s been rooting on the Packers since 1960.
“Reggie White just had this one move where he would just power over people, he just dominated, so we’ll see maybe this guy is a little quicker than Reggie but maybe not as big,” Bock said.
While football is officially back in the air throughout Wisconsin, hope is too.
“As a diehard Packers fan I’m really happy, I’m delusional so I hope we win the super bowl,” Acosta said.
