Impounded motorcycles will be used to teach Milwaukee students STEM skills under new partnership
CBS 58 MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Local leaders joined together at Milwaukee's tow lot Wednesday, Aug. 19, to launch a brand-new initiative.
Made possible by a collaboration between the city and BikerfestMKE, several impounded motorcycles will now be used to educate Milwaukee's youth.
This learning will come in the form of hands-on mechanical experience while fixing the bikes, and even safe operation when the bikes are ready to ride.
"This partnership has done a lot for the program," said Venisha Simpson, executive director of BikerfestMKE. "It provides that access and opportunity where we would otherwise not be able to afford our programming and our mission."
BikerfestMKE has been around since 2019, offering a safe pathway for Milwaukee's youth to explore their interest in motorcycles, all while fostering interest in technology and engineering.
