Inaugural Veteran's Market in Waterford will showcase 15+ veteran-owned businesses, resources
WATERFORD, Wis. (CBS 58) -- This Saturday, Nov. 4, more than 15 veteran-owned businesses will come together to showcase their goods.
The owner of Rusty's Dry Goods on Main Street is hosting the inaugural Veteran's Market in Waterford. Ward Lyon is a retired military veteran. Last year, he and his wife, Vana Lyon, opened Rusty's Dry Goods. February after retiring from the military. His shop sells American-made products that you can't find in big box stores and on major websites. And he works hard to source Veteran owned products for his shelves.
The event will take place in the yard around Rusty's. You'll find unique items like Lit Beard Oil, a company started by Anthony Anderson 3-and-a-half years ago.
"Every sale we donate $1 to Welcome Home Troops," said Anderson. "I think that we're wired differently. I think we're wired for service."
Anderson is also a veteran, and after meeting Lyon last summer, he knew he wanted to participate in the market.
"Just veteran-owned businesses and get them together and share some resources, share some stories," said Lyon.
November is National Veterans and Military Families Month. Whether you're a veteran looking to connect, you're a military spouse or you just want to buy some cool Christmas gifts from local veterans, the Veteran's Market is open for you this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
