Updated: Wednesday, December 18th 1:40pm:

A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for Milwaukee, Waukesha, Jefferson, Dodge, Washington, Ozaukee, Sheboygan, and Fond du Lac counties beginning Thursday morning and continuing through Friday morning.

Areas within the advisory have the best shot at picking up 3" to 6" of snow. Snow totals will be enhanced lakeside, especially in Sheboygan and Ozaukee counties, so those locations have the best chance at picking up 6" of snow. The track of this system will keep snow totals lower near in the IL border, but if this system tracks 50 miles to the south, the 2" to 4" totals will need to be expanded southward.

Snow begins mid to late morning Thursday, but the brunt of the accumulation and most moderate, widespread snow will occur from 6pm to 6am Friday. Plan on slick spots during the Thursday PM commute and lingering road impacts Friday morning. Snow will likely still be ongoing during the morning commute near the lake.

------------------------------------------------

We saw some flurries and a bit of light snow Tuesday night into early Wednesday. Anyone north of I-94 just saw some flurries with not much accumulating but some communities south of I-94 and especially towards the Illinois border got a few tenths of an inch with one spot in Walworth County seeing over an inch.

The rest of Wednesday is dry and breezy under a partly cloudy sky. We stay dry through Thursday morning then see snow approach by the midday hours Thursday. The better chance for accumulating snow is Thursday afternoon through Friday morning.

The Thursday evening commute will likely be a bit slick and the Friday morning commute may also be impacted. Snow totals are expected to reach over 2" for all of southeast Wisconsin with some northern counties getting closer to 4-6".

Those northern counties are currently under a winter storm watch for Thursday morning through noon Friday for the potential to get the most snow. The watch will be upgraded to either an advisory or warning later Wednesday. The rest of southeast Wisconsin will likely be under a winter weather advisory as well.
