IndyCar champ Alex Palou zooms into Road America Grand Prix as defending race winner
CBS 58 ELKHART LAKE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- IndyCar gets a week off, but next Sunday, June 21, is the Road America Grand Prix.
CBS 58 Sports Director Lance Allan caught up with series points leader and reigning Indy Car champion Alex Palou one-on-one to ask why he does so well at the track near Elkhart Lake.
"Why am I fast there?" Alex Palou asks. "Why I've been fast there, I don't really know. I guess I just enjoy every single moment I spend there."
Now we don't want to bring up bad things, but he won at Road America in 2021, 2023, and 2025. So that means he's due in 2027. So, what is he going to do in 2026 at Road America?
"We need to break that, so I think we need to win in '26," Palou says with a laugh. "And yeah, I mean, yeah, now that you say it, it's still pretty cool. Like if you win 50% of the times that you're at Road America, that's a pretty cool stat. But hopefully we can change it. Hopefully we can change and we can win in 2026 as well. I feel really strong this year and I think, yeah, I cannot wait to get to the track very soon."
