Injured K-9 cleared to return to patrol work a year after shooting incident

FOND DU LAC, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Nearly one year after being severely injured during a shooting, Fond du Lac County Sheriff K-9 Officer is set to make a comeback.

In October 2023, Iro was injured during an officer-involved shooting between a deputy and the suspected shooter.

Shortly after, Fond du Lac officials began the path to recovery, showing K-9 Iro walking to get his tennis ball while being held by people with towels.

Over 10 months later, the Sheriff's Office has confirmed that Iro has graduated from his K-9 recertification course and has been checked off to return to duty.

In a Facebook post, officials made the announcement and documented his path to recovery.
