MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A 26-year-old Milwaukee man is charged with first-degree intentional homicide in the fatal shooting of 29-year-old Ar'Mante Davis on Wednesday, Sept. 16, according to a criminal complaint.

Donell Washington faces the homicide charge along with possession of a firearm by a felon.

Officers responded to a shooting near 32nd and McKinley at around 9:20 p.m. on Wednesday and found Davis unresponsive in the median, according to the complaint. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A witness told detectives he saw a tall, slender person chasing a heavier-set person down the block, then saw the victim fall and the shooter stand over him and fire several more shots before walking away, the complaint states. Officers located Washington nearby and found a handgun in his waistband; preliminary testing matched the weapon to shell casings recovered at the scene, according to the complaint.

A woman who was with Washington at the time of his arrest told detectives Washington and Davis had exchanged threats before she heard gunfire, according to the complaint.

Washington reportedly initially denied involvement but later told detectives he shot Davis as Davis ran from him, referencing an altercation between the two several years earlier, according to the complaint, telling detectives he felt no remorse.

Washington was previously convicted of felony drug possession in April. He has not been convicted in this case. His preliminary court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 30.
