'It's really special': Brewers fans eagerly buy NLCS tickets, confident team will make it to next round
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- It's been an exciting start to the playoffs for the Milwaukee Brewers, and though the division series isn't over yet, fans are confident they'll make it to the next round.
Tickets for the potential National League Championship Series (NLCS) went on sale Monday morning, Oct. 5, and fans flocked to websites and box offices hoping to snag a seat next week.
"I'll be honest with you, I just said whatever you're charging, charge me," said Dan Lavinio, who bought tickets for four potential NLCS games in Milwaukee. "I didn't even check the prices, because I just know if I lose those tickets, somebody else is going to get them."
Many of the tickets sold at the stadium box office Monday were between $200 and $400, but fans said seeing the Crew in action is worth splurging.
"You never know when it's going to happen again, so you just got to take advantage of the opportunity when you have the chance and go for it," said Tony Curro, who bought tickets for a potential NLCS Game 7.
Curro also stopped into the Team Store to buy a Jackson Chourio jersey after his incredible performance in the first two NLDS games against the San Diego Padres.
"I was just running around the house screaming. It was awesome. No better feeling," he said. "He's just proven that he's clutch. Postseason leader in home runs for the Brewers already, at 22 years old."
The team's electric playoff lead has fans pumped up, and some feeling sentimental.
"I'm getting up there in age, and I was here in '82 and we didn't win it. It's really special to be a part of the championship run," said Lavinio.
"My late grandpa was a huge Brewers fan, so he would be jumping for joy," said Teri Hofmann. "It's nice to come here, visit the stadium, visit the gift shop, and be a part of the excitement."
Official watch parties are planned at UW Credit Union Plaza outside American Family Field for NLDS Games 3 and 4 (if necessary) on Tuesday and Wednesday night.
The Brewers released 3,000 free watch party tickets per night based on the plaza's capacity, and all tickets for Game 3 were claimed in less than an hour.
