Jackson Police, bystanders help victim who crashed onto icy lake

JACKSON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Jackson Police and Fire crews were dispatched to a vehicle accident in the area of Cty Tk P and Rosewood Lane.

According to the fire department, the vehicle was traveling south on Cty Tk P and failed to maintain his direction of travel on the roadway. The vehicle crossed over Rosewood lane and went through the woods north of Hasmer Lake before coming to a rest on the ice sheet of the lake.

Crews arrived on scene to find the vehicle had not broken through the ice. The driver of the vehicle was assited to shore by local law enforcement and bystanders in the area.

The Fire Department believes the patient was suffering from a possible medical condition prior to the accident. 

Some ice fishermen who witnessed the accident said that the lake where the truck came to a rest was about 20 feet deep.

The patient was flown to a Milwaukee-area hospital for treatment of injuries.

There is currently no word on their condition.
