Milwaukee Armed Forces Week honors active military in our hometowns
APPLETON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A few Wisconsin youth sports teams picked up some new cleats in Appleton this week.
But what was supposed to be a quick stop turned into an unexpected surprise when Packers quarterback Jordan Love walked in.
He surprised the group of young athletes with the new shoes as part of his "10ve for Cleats" campaign, encouraging children to play sports.
"It's amazing, you know, just being able to be here, see the reactions the kids get, and just be around them," Love said. "And then obviously, hopefully it's something that helps propel them in their season and they go out and have some success on the field."
This year, 46 total teams will be getting cleats from this campaign -- 23 in Wisconsin and 23 in Love's hometown of Bakersfield, California.
Nearly 2,000 cleats will be donated this year.
