Jury finds 2nd Milwaukee man guilty in homicide of Purcell Pearson
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A jury found Ismael Moreno guilty Wednesday, in the homicide of Purcell Pearson.
Moreno, 19, was convicted of first-degree reckless homicide as a party to a crime.
Pearson, a 22-year-old UW-Whitewater graduate, died in February of 2021 after he was shot near 22nd and Wisconsin.
Surveillance video shows him hanging onto the driver's side window of a van as the driver crosses an embankment and goes the wrong way down Wisconsin Avenue. Then, Pearson was shot by someone inside the van.
Authorities say the shooting happened while Pearson was selling designer sunglasses to Moreno and Tyrell Joseph.
Joseph, who prosecutors say was driving the van, was sentenced in March of 2022 to nine years in prison for his involvement after pleading guilty to second-degree reckless homicide as a party to a crime.
Authorities say Moreno is the one who pulled the trigger.
Moreno's sentencing hearing has been scheduled for June 23.
