Milwaukee police kill homicide suspect during shootout on city's south side
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Police say a homicide suspect is dead after exchanging gunfire with Milwaukee police officers Monday, April 13.
In a press conference Monday evening, Police Chief Jeffrey Norman said the 31-year-old suspect was being sought in connection to a homicide near 7th and Mitchell Monday morning.
Chief Norman said officers located the suspect vehicle Monday afternoon after being involved in another shots fired incident near 36th and Sarnow Street.
Around 4:47 p.m., Milwaukee police officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the suspect fled, according to Norman, and a chase began, ending in a crash on S. 35th St. near National Avenue.

The suspect was taken to an area hospital where he died of his injuries.
A 34-year-old involved in the crash was also taken to a hospital for treatment of non-fatal injuries.
Eight officers involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative duty as is routine in officer-involved shootings.
The police department says those officers are a 35-year-old man with over eight years of service, 33-year-old man with over 14 years of service, 33-year-old man with over nine years of service, 33-year-old man with over eight years of service, 30-year-old man with over 11 years of service, 30-year-old man with over seven years of service, 29-year-old man with over three years of service and a 26-year-old man with over seven months of service.
