Kenosha woman accused of driving drunk, killing motorcyclist had 2 kids in car
CBS 58/Mysti Haager KENOSHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A Kenosha County woman is accused of driving drunk by nearly three times the legal limit, killing a motorcyclist -- all with two kids in her car.
The Kenosha County Sheriff's Office responded around 8 p.m. on Sept. 22, 2025 near the 27400 Block of CTH-C in the Village of Salem Lakes for a crash involving a car and a motorcycle. The driver was 35-year-old Ashley Nolder and the motorcyclist was Angelina Christina Principato, according to a criminal complaint.
Nolder appeared for the first time in court on May 6, facing 11 charges, including Homicide by Intoxicated Use of Vehicle, two counts of 1st-Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, two counts of Neglecting a Child, and Obstructing an Officer.
“My mom was the kind of mom that everyone wished they had," shared Ashley Richmond in court.
Ashley Richmond and Cassie Kinney are Principato's daughters who have been waiting for justice for months.
Nolder, according to the criminal complaint, said everything happened so quickly, and "definitely felt like she cut the biker off and that she was at fault.” In the car was Nolder's 9-year-old son and 9-year-old niece, who weren't injured. Principato was taken to the hospital after she was described by officials as unconscious, "with a laceration to the right side of her face, deep laceration on right knee, several other injuries." She later died at the hospital.
Richmond said her mom loved to ride her motorcycle when she wasn't caring for her family.
"To us, she was the rock to our family. She was always there for Cassie and I. For us to lose that rock, she was our best friend," said Richmond.
In intake court, Nolder was tearing up, and her hands were shaking as we heard about Principato.
"Knowing she'd walked free for almost eight months was discouraging. She got to walk free and enjoy life while we've been waiting for answers," Richmond said.
Nolder reportedly drove for nearly ten minutes with a BAC of .211, though she told officers originally, she didn't have anything to drink. Later, she admitted to drinking two Jack and Cokes two hours before the accident. She told officers she originally lied because, "she did not want to get in trouble" and she "felt safe to drive."
"It is concerning. Very concerning is the fact that this is brought in, this is a situation that happened back in September of 2025 and now it's nine months later," said Kenosha County Court Commissioner William Michel.
Now, Principato's family is awaiting justice while they mourn their mother who they say was "a wonderful, wonderful mom." Richmond said the last time she saw her mother was at her baby shower, as she was seven months pregnant.
She laments her children not being able to get to know their grandmother.
Nolder's cash bond was set at $250,000. She's due back in court May 13 at 10:30 am.
