Body of missing woman in Wisconsin recovered from Mississippi River

LA CROSSE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Authorities report the body of 22-year-old Eliotte Heinz was recovered from the Mississippi River near Brownsville, Minnesota. 

Officials say Heinz's body was located just before 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 23. 

“This was not the outcome we had hoped for throughout this search. Our thoughts are with Eliotte’s family, friends and all those who knew Eliotte. We are grateful for the outpouring of support from so many within the La Crosse community, the State of Wisconsin and nationally to locate Eliotte,” said La Crosse Police Chief Shawn Kudron.

An investigation continues.

LA CROSSE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- La Crosse police are asking for the community's help in locating a missing woman. 

Officials say 22-year-old Eliotte Heinz was last seen walking on the 500 block of Front Street South around 3:22 a.m. Sunday, July 20. 

Viterbo says Heinz is a graduate student at the university. They shared information on a community search effort Monday, to distribute flyers and search the area, as well as a prayer service. 

Eliotte is described as 5'4", 120 pounds, with blonde hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and jean shorts.
