Lake Express Ferry sets sail for Lake Michigan terminal

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Lake Express Ferry embarked from its storage location in Milwaukee’s Menomonee River Valley to its operational terminal on the Lake Michigan waterfront on Wednesday, April 10.

The ferry, used for daily regional transportation, transitions annually to facilitate increased travel during the warmer months and connects Milwaukee with Muskegon, Mich., offering an alternative to driving through the roadways of Chicago.

Starting Friday, May 3, the ferry will provide two daily round trips as the regular operations for this season commence. Services for up to 250 passengers and space for 46 vehicles and 12 motorcycles per crossing will be provided.

The journey across Lake Michigan typically lasts about two-and-a-half hours.
