Landlord killed in deadly stabbing near 31st and State in Milwaukee, neighbor says
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A woman told CBS 58 she heard screams on her street, and later, she found out her landlord had been killed in a stabbing near 31st and State Streets in Milwaukee.
According to Milwaukee police, the stabbing occurred on Sunday, Feb. 2 around 3 p.m. June Brown says she was at her home when police arrived to the scene.
“I heard the screaming in the distance. It sounded like someone was being hurt, like really hurt," Brown said. “The police came to my house looking for my landlord and they said they were doing a welfare check.”
Brown says the man, who the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner identified the man as 74-year-old David Grosse.
Police arrested a 37-year-old in West Allis near 61st Street and Lincoln Avenue in connection to the stabbing. Shamady Cortes Jimenez says she saw police near her own home as they made the arrest.
"There were police right there, and a man there, too.," Cortes Jimenez said as she pointed to the area where the arrest took place. “I was really scared, I called my mom right away, and I didn’t know how to react, it was just so surprising.”
Charges are pending a review by the Milwaukee District Attorney's Office.
