Fight at Mayfair Mall hospitalizes 1 with stab wound

WAUWATOSA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Wauwatosa police were called to Mayfair Mall shortly after 7:30 p.m. Thursday night, Oct. 10.

According to the Waukesha police, officers arrived at the mall for a report of a person bleeding from his leg.

Police say they later determined that two subjects who were known to each other got into a fight in the vestibule on the north side of Macy's.

One person had a knife during the altercation, and suffered a self-inflicted stab wound to the leg.

The knife was recovered, and the person was transported to a hospital and is in stable condition.

Shoppers say the mall closes at 8 p.m., but they were evacuated before that, some telling us that they had parked on one side of the mall and were forced to exit and then walk all the way around to get back to their cars.

"It's kind of surprising being in this part of like Wauwatosa like it's not common," said Christopher Rivera, Mayfair Mall worker.

"We're trying to go through to Macy's cause I parked on the side so couldn't get through, blood on the floor," said Josiah, a Mayfair Mall shopper who didn't want to give his last name.

"I feel safe with the police right here and my car's right here," said Corrina White, a Mayfair Mall worker.

The investigation is ongoing.
