Leaders announce new satellite locations for child support services in Milwaukee County

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- County leaders are addressing the need for child support services in our community. That continued Monday with the Getting Fathers Connected and Back on Track event.
County Executive David Crowley joined members of the Department of Health and Human Services Monday morning in Milwaukee as they announced new satellite locations for support services.
These locations will have access to cash kiosks to be used to pay for child support costs, as well as case management services to help reconnect fathers with their families.
"We don't want to be known just as a debt collection agency," said Shakita LaGrant-McClain, executive director, Department of Health and Human Services. "Yes, we want fathers to be on track and paying their child support, but this is about the children. When children have their father and their mother in their lives, and they're able, they don't have to be together, but to be able to co-parent, placing that child at the center, we have a healthier community, we have healthier children. Children are our future and that's our ultimate goal."
In addition to the new satellite locations, Monday's event featured on-site case managers and access to local resources, all geared towards getting fathers more involved in their children's lives.
