WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) – Students in Waukesha started their Wednesday with words of inspiration from a Packers Hall of famer.
LeRoy Butler visited La Casa de Esperanza charter school as part of his "Butler vs. Bullying" campaign.
Butler travels to more than 30 schools each year to share his life story and experience with bullying.
"Teachers are the smartest people in the world," Butler said during his speech on Wednesday, Jan. 17.
Butler overcame physical and learning disabilities throughout childhood to become an NFL superstar.
He told students it was only possible through positivity, and with the help from great teachers.
"That was my gift growing up, blocking out negative stuff. I know it's easy to say, but sometimes I say to kids, have you ever tried it? Have you ever tried ignoring negative stuff?" Butler said. "When you see stuff on social media, which I didn't have, just delete it. Make it obsolete by delete."
Butler has shared his story with more than 100,000 students across Wisconsin and beyond.
During our interview with Butler, we asked what he thought about the current Packers season. Watch the video below to see what he had to say.
