Livestock show debuting at 2023 Waukesha County Fair offering special needs inclusion 🐷

WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Spectacular Showmen inclusive livestock show, an initiative for individuals with special needs, is set to debut at the 2023 Waukesha County Fair.

The initiative, brainchild of Ellie Szczech, the 2023 Waukesha County Fairest of the Fair, provides individuals aged 12-25 with developmental delays or intellectual disabilities with hands-on livestock experience, bridging an accessibility gap in traditional fair programming.

Szczech watched her brother Benjamin boost his confidence and social skills as he worked with hogs at the Fair in 2016, inspiring her to push to offer that experience to those who may normally find hurdles in being able to participate.

The event takes place Sunday, July 23 at 10 a.m., promising a day of interaction with animals, supplemented by the fair's usual offerings of food, music and games.

Participants will receive fair admission for the participant and a guest, along with a Spectacular Showmen t-shirt and additional surprises.

For further information on how to get involved, as well as information about other inclusive activities aimed at Fair attendees with special needs, contact the Waukesha County Fair at (262) 544-5922.
