MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Badger State is famous for cheese, beer, brats and our delightful accent, but one author aims to highlight some of the experiences the state has to offer that should be experienced by anyone before they die.

Wisconsin native Dannelle Gay is a travel writer who has used the moniker "The Traveling Cheesehead," and is also a professional chef. Her next step is a guidebook titled "100 Things to Do in Wisconsin Before You Die," published with the intent to give over $500,000 in money to non-profits throughout the state.

Gay's guidebook provides a comprehensive list of Wisconsin's must-see, must-taste and must-do activities for both residents and visitors. The guidebook covers a wide range of activities from cheering on the Green Bay Packers to hiking or biking through one of Wisconsin's 49 state parks.

For those interested in Wisconsin's diverse agricultural history, Gay recommends farm-to-fork dining experiences ranging from cranberries to goats. The book also offers unique accommodation options such as a submarine and the only Zephyr shovel nose steamer train in the world.

Gay joined us on Tuesday, Feb. 28 to showcase her guidebook's insider tips and itineraries for every season, making it a resource for all types of travelers.

The book retails for $22.50 and more information can be found by clicking here.
