MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Online purchase scams top the list of the Better Business Bureau of Wisconsin's top 10 most reported scams for the third year in a row, according to a recent BBB report.
The annual Scam Tracker Risk Report was released last week, highlighting the top reported scams.
To discuss details about the report, Lisa Schiller of the BBB's Milwaukee office joined us on Monday, March 13.
The report found that the BBB Scam Tracker has helped people avoid losing more than $21 million, with those aged 18 - 24 being the group with the highest median dollar loss for the first time.
Employment scams have reportedly made a resurgence, with reports of such scams increasing by 23.1%. The BBB warns that job seekers should be cautious of jobs that require upfront payments or ask for personal information, such as social security numbers.
The BBB encourages individuals to report any suspicious activity and to stay informed about the latest scams. For more information on how to stay protected from scams, visit the BBB's website at bbb.org.
