MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Freezing temperatures couldn’t stop the love in the Brew City.
"I feel like he's my soul mate," said a newly engaged Chris Heller. "He's the person that I should've been with before."
"Yea, we just fit well together," added Heller's fiancé Mike Schwartz.
Chris and Mike have known each for more than 15 years. Friends at first, they’ve spent the last three as a couple. On Valentine's Day, they got engaged.
"I went up to get some beers and had the ring on a ribbon and tied it around the glass," he said.
"And I just looked at him, and I was in awe," she said. "I knew he was going to, but I just didn't know when."
For anyone who proposed, Third Space Brewing offered a free rehearsal dinner with a $100 beer tab.
"We just wanted to do something fun on Valentine's Day," said Third Space Brewing co-founder Andy Gehl. "If we can bring them together for one of the greatest moments of their lives, there's nothing better than that."
On the other side of town, exes were the topic of conversation.
The Loaded Slate let people shred pictures of their exes, for a good cause.
"And they get a free drink and we donate some money to the American Heart Association," owner Joe Kuntz said.
They can also mingle with other singles and perhaps find new love.
But if not, Chris and Mike say don't rush.
"Your soulmate is out there," she said.
"It'll happen when it happens," Mike added.
