MADACC plans 5k run and walk fundraiser for May 30

Walk Run Wag 2015 will be held on May 30 in Wauwatosa, WI to benefit the Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control Commission.

It's a 5K run (for people only), followed by a 5K run (for people and their dogs), followed by a 1-2 mile walk (for people and dogs).

Friends of MADACC Presidetn Laura Nigbur will be a special live guest Friday on the CBS 58 News at 4 p.m.

Following the run/walk from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. will be lure coursing, canine dock diving, agility, pet-friendly vendors, adoptable dogs from area rescue groups, and more.

The unique aspect is that there's something for everyone - you can race the 5K even if you don't have a dog - and if you're not really a runner, come out and do the walk. Kids 13 and under are free, and we'll have medals for the top finishers. And there aren't many 5K in the state (or in the country!) that you can do with your dog.

Food trucks Burgermeister, The Gouda Girls, Meat on the Street, and Simmer will be onsite, as well as a beer/beverage tent provided by Leff's Lucky Town. The band Bushwood will also perform.

Datamars/PetLink will offer microchips to pets of attendees for $15. Lost Dogs of Wisconsin will scan any pet's microchip for free, to ensure that it is still operable. MADACC will also offer pet I.D. tags for $5.

You CAN still register today (Friday) at MADACC, 3839 W. Burnham St. until 7:30 p.m. or tomorrow morning at Hart Park from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. The registration fee for either 5K run is $30; the registration fee for the walk is $25.

Net proceeds raised the event support two goals:  reduce the number of animals taken in by MADACC through outreach, education, and spay/neuter programs for the community and increase the number of animals available for adoption through facility improvements, enrichment, and foster program support.
