Man accused of dragging MCSO deputy at Milwaukee's lakefront was out on bond

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A 21-year-old man has been charged, accused of dragging a Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office deputy during a traffic stop at the city's lakefront.

The incident happened on June 2 as a deputy was alerted of the presence of a stolen vehicle in the Northpoint parking lot near Bradford Beach.

Deputies were performing a traffic stop when the suspect -- later identified by authorities as Dedric Vaughns -- began to drive away and dragged a deputy several feet before leaving the area.

A passenger, identified by officials as 19-year-old Franklin Easley, had exited the vehicle and was arrested. A firearm was recovered. 

The deputy suffered bruises and scrapes and returned to work a few days later.

Investigators learned the recovered firearm was stolen out of Milwaukee. 

Authorities also say Vaughns was on probation at the time of the incident. 

Vaughns has been charged with first degree recklessly endangering safety, vehicle operator flee/elude officer resulting in bodily harm. 

Easley was charged with carrying a concealed weapon. 

In court on Monday, June 12, a judge set Vaughns bond at $25,000. He's due back in court on June 20 for a preliminary hearing.
