Man arrested after 4-hour standoff with Greenfield Police

GREENFIELD, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A 4-hour standoff in Greenfield ended peacefully Saturday morning when the man involved surrendered to police.

The incident began around 2 a.m. when a woman reported that she had been threatened by her 50-year-old boyfriend. The woman fled from the home and called police. She reported that her boyfriend was armed.

Greenfield Police arrived at the home, located near 84th Street and Plainfield Avenue, and began negotiations. 

The man surrendered without incident around 6 a.m. and he was taken into custody.

During the standoff, one neighbor was asked to evacuate their home as a precaution.

Nobody was injured and formal charges are pending.
