MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The man charged in the death of 45-year-old Vincent Torres in a drive-by shooting has been sentenced to 25 years.

"That's not enough for our family, but in God's eyes, no one's going to escape. So I know he's going to pay for what he did to my uncle," Torres' niece, Citlalli Cardena-Torrez, said.

Christian Jackson, 32, was charged with first-degree reckless homicide after prosecutors say he shot towards Torres from a moving car near 11th and Lapham on June 4, 2025.

"He's going to be able to get a letter, a phone call, a visit, his mom is going to be able to see him," Cardena-Torrez said. "We're never going to get that from my uncle."

Police say he shot at Torres after getting into an argument with Torres' son.

Torres was pronounced dead at the scene.

Jackson was arrested three months later.

"I really wish that people would really put the guns down, stop using weapons. If you know you cannot control your anger and if you feel like things are going to escalate, just leave," Cardena-Torrez said. "My uncle lost his life to something so senseless that could have been avoided."
