WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Waukesha Police say a man was shot and killed after pointing a gun at officers outside of Waukesha Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, April 15.
Authorities say they were called to the hospital around 1:30 a.m. for a report of a man with a handgun near the Emergency Room entrance. The police department says officers attempted to de-escalate the situation by talking to the suspect. They learned the suspect was at the hospital for treatment.
According to the department, officers told the man to drop his gun several times and he ignored the orders. Police say the man's behavior then changed and he pointed his gun at officers. Officers then shot the man and immediately brought him into the Emergency Room for treatment.
The man died. Police say no one else was hurt. The incident remains under investigation.
