MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- It was a big night over at Marquette, with both basketball programs hosting the return of Marquette Madness.
Shaka Smart and his squad, as well as Megan Duffy and her squad.
Their was a dunk contest and a skills challenge, along with some dancing.
But the big key was for both teams to get a chance to return in front of their fans for a new season.
"Being at Marquette, obviously there's a passion here for basketball," said Smart. "And with us being new, really 90-some percent of us in the program, including me, you know we're just excited about building."
"We missed so much last year," said Chloe Marotta, a redshirt junior forward. "It's just so cool to see the fans in the area and be so excited for us to play. But to have the chance for those freshman and sophomores to get this experience is -- is quite awesome."
The Marquette men will hold an open practice at Fiserv Forum on October 14th for season ticket holders and an open scrimmage on October 31st at Al McGuire Center.
The men will open the season on November 12th against New Hampshire at 7:30pm at Fiserv Forum. The women's team starts play on the 9th against Alcorn State at time yet to be announced.
