Milwaukee’s Museum of Beer and Brewing is now open
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee Bucks may be getting a new head coach and it's one with ties to the city.
There's excitement on Marquette University's campus.
“I love this place. It’s home, for sure," said Marquette senior Billy Rojack.
It's a homecoming of sorts.
“He’s a proven winner," said Marquette junior Daniel Shapiro.
This story began 44 years ago, in 1980, when Doc Rivers stepped foot on the floor of the Mecca.
“This is not the same campus that I was at," Doc Rivers said in an interview with Marquette University. “I came here as a young kid from Chicago who just wanted to play basketball.”
Now, he could be stepping onto another arena, just down the street.
“For as long as I can remember, I’ve been a Marquette basketball fan and Doc Rivers has always been an icon here," said Rojack.
The NBA champion was reportedly picked to be the new head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks.
“Especially being a Marquette alum, I think it’s pretty cool that he’s back in Milwaukee and I think he brings a wealth of experience and knowledge," said Shapiro.
While it's not the homecoming that most people think of, for Marquette students and fans, it's pretty close.
“Doc Rivers brings that same energy, especially being a Marquette guy," said Rojack.
