MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Child care, and especially the cost of child care, is a huge issue for young parents these days. Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) announced the opening of a "Little Stormers Village" -- a drop-off child care center for students with kinds who need to get some studying done, or talk with school officials, or even take a test.
They can leave their kids with child care providers in a secure playroom in MATC's downtown campus for up to three hours and there is no charge.
"We had a student who came in not long after we opened, it's like wait, I can use this to go take a test? Yeah, like, of course, that's what we want you to do the best that you can on your test. and she was so relieved because she could focus for the one, two hours, however long it took to study to take her test versus having her adorable little kiddo," said Sara Cappaert, MATC.
Little Stormers takes in kids from six months to 10 years of age.
MATC believes this is one of the few drop-in child care centers available at community colleges around the country.
