MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Four new single-family homes are under development and were toured by some city officials Wednesday morning, June 4.
Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson and Alderman Russell Stamper took a tour of the site in Metcalfe Park.
The project adds to the city's goals of developing affordable housing across Milwaukee neighborhoods.
Johnson grew up around the corner from the site and expressed excitement that the development would strengthen community ties.
"Milwaukee is a city of neighborhoods, and people are tied to the neighborhoods in which they live, and so we want to make sure that no matter what income level you are at, that you get an opportunity to stay in the neighborhood of your choice," Mayor Johnson said.
With permits still being evaluated, the project hopes to break ground in July.
