MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Dozens of families will be given a free Thanksgiving day meal because of the generosity of Milwaukee County Sheriff's deputies and volunteers.
Milwaukee County sheriff's deputies spent Monday, Nov. 25 at Metcalfe's Market in Wauwatosa, shopping for groceries so they can give 50 families a Thanksgiving meal.
This is the third year in a row Milwaukee County deputies have delivered Thanksgiving meals to families.
They partnered with the Metcalfe's Market, American Family Insurance, and the Reach a Child Foundation.
Fifty low-income families were chosen with the help of several agencies.
Deputies say while they want to take the stress out of buying food for the holiday, they also say they have a bigger goal.
"For community engagement and to have a positive message for the community and build the trust that is lacking here in the inner city,” said Milwaukee County Sheriff's Deputy Kristine Camarillo.
Sheriff's deputies will be delivering the meals to families Tuesday morning, Nov. 26.
