Former Kenosha teacher charged, complaint details reports of inappropriate relationship with 8th grade student
KENOSHA COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A Kenosha man has been formally charged with 22 counts of disorderly conduct after allegations have come to light that he groomed his former 7th grade student.
Christian Enwright was put on leave in February when KTEC school officials began investigating a possible inappropriate relationship between the 7th grade teacher and his former student.
The victim was interviewed and, according to a criminal complaint, told investigators she and Enwright had been friends on SnapChat and TikTok since June of 2023. Their relationship started when, officials say, Enwright would complement her saying things like, "you look cute," or "you look good."
According to a criminal complaint, detectives located more than 600 deleted SnapChat messages from Enwright to the victim between Jan. 26 and Feb. 1.
Snapchat messages within the criminal complaint show seflies of Enwright along with captions on the photos with statements including, "your dimples are cute," and "I like seeing all that leg."
The victim stated she and Enwright would "message all day, but not during school hours." The messaging allegedly started near the end of 2023.
Enwright would allegedly get upset with the victim if he found out she was talking to other guys from school.
During an interview accompanied by his wife, the complaint says Enwright denied he had done anything wrong but admitted to communicating with the victim via Snapchat for months. Enwright allegedly said first it was small talk, then their communication escalated to sending still images and short video clips to one another.
The complaint says Enwright admitted he was only trying to raise the victim's confidence and make her feel better about herself.
Enwright has since been fired.
He's due in court for his initial appearance May 15.
