The District Attorney's office and city property records confirm that man's identity.

We are not naming him at this time because he has not yet been charged. But he remains in the Milwaukee County jail, in the process of being booked.

Milwaukee property records show that man is the owner of the duplex that was searched this week by state investigators.

Also Friday, we learned the FBI is assisting the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office with the investigation.

Update on April 4 at 7:03 p.m.:

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A person of interest is now in custody in connection to the severed leg that was found Tuesday, April 2, in Warnimont Park in Cudahy.

The update came Thursday, April 4, when the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office also confirmed the case is now being investigated as a homicide.

Investigators from the state's Department of Justice searched a home near 39th and Euclid in Milwaukee Thursday night, April 4.

For several hours, the DOJ investigators went in and out of the upstairs apartment unit of a duplex on S. 39th.

Investigators carried out brown paper bags of evidence and placed them in their vehicles. Crime scene tape was up around the building throughout the night.

As the night got darker, those investigators used flashlights to search through the unit.

While a person of interest is in custody, the Sheriff's Office is not sharing any names at this time.

Several neighbors told us they don't know who lives in the apartment unit, or whether the person who lives there was the victim or the person of interest.

CUDAHY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A human leg was found at Warnimont Park.

The discovery has called for an investigation by the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office.

According to authorities, the leg was found by someone walking in the park. The leg was found in or near the water east of the golf course.

The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office said their investigation is "gaining steam" to determine how a human leg ended up in a county park.

The discovery of the leg has left community members with questions.

"Lots of unanswered questions, but concern, that’s a pretty serious situation, " said Robert Best, program manager at Kelly's Senior Center.

Best went on to say the discovery of a human leg at the park Tuesday evening was shocking to the Cudahy community.

"Who knows where this leg came from, but somehow ended up here," said Best.

Authorities said they're in the early stages of their investigation, and it's too early to determine how the leg got there.

"We are all curious, but I suspect that once the story comes out, we'll understand that it was some kind of isolated case," said Best.

CBS 58 spoke with the sheriff’s office earlier. They say it's too soon to determine if the public is at any risk, but they're confident a crime was committed.
