MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee County is trying to determine what the future of bus service will look like. Wednesday, Sept. 30, they held another in a series of community meetings to take suggestions from people who live in the county.

Bus service can generate strong feelings among those who need it for transportation. 

Wednesday's meeting focused on Transit Plus, the Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) program that serves people with disabilities who can't use regular fixed bus routes.

"I recently applied for Transit Plus," one person said. "I will be one of them. I'm sitting next to someone who also uses it. There are tons of other people in this room, can I get an amen?"

The transit system is trying to figure out what kind of bus network they can create with the funds they have, and there are choices to be made.

"What we've heard so far is that some folks really like high-frequency service," said Jesus Ochoa, MCTS director of service development. "Some prefer routes that go maybe a little further out in some parts of the county, but they would come a little less frequently. So it's a little bit of here, little bit of there."

There's another MCTS open house Thursday, Oct. 1, at the Wauwatosa Public Library from 4-6 p.m.
