WEST ALLIS, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office says an autopsy is scheduled Wednesday, Sept. 8. for the 6-year-old boy who died from a stab wound in West Allis. 

It happened just before 3 p.m. Monday Sept. 6.

A 911 caller reported a juvenile male with a possible knife wound to his stomach. The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office called the incident a homicide, and said that a 6-year-old had died.

The incident occurred at a home near 73rd and Orchard. 

The West Allis Police Department said there is currently no threat to the public, but shared no information about a possible suspect.

CBS 58 news crews arrived on scene shortly after and saw eight police cars with lights flashing lining both sides of the street as officers secured the home. But there was no police tape and the scene did not appear active at the time.

One neighbor said they saw an ambulance arrive and then leave shortly after. 

About five West Allis police detectives arrived at the home around 4:30 p.m. 

Upon arrival, first responders rendered aid to the child, and he was taken to a local hospital. 

Detectives are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding this incident.
