MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – A tech malfunction continues disrupting services around the world, and in Milwaukee.

Computers running Microsoft Windows, a Crowdstrike Client, crashed because of a defect in a software update. It impacted airlines and businesses nationwide.

"Hopefully we'll be okay," Traveler Nestor Chopin said.

Chopin was visiting Milwaukee for the Republican National Convention, and when trying to fly out Friday, he was left with little answers amid the outage.

"We don't know yet. I don’t know yet. There’s a big line here. I’m not too sure if my flight is canceled or not," he told CBS 58 Friday morning.

While it was a headache for passengers looking to fly out of Milwaukee, others just trying to do everyday tasks also found themselves in the middle of the issues.

"Every single morning, I come over here and get my coffee from here," Mario Diaz said.

Diaz stops daily at the Speedway at 60th and Coldspring for a cup of joe, but he was one of the many customers left outside Friday as the gas station closed its doors because their system was offline.

"The first thing the manager told me was that he hates the software because that's the problem right now," he said.
Staff at the Speedway told CBS 58 that the outage would impact their bottom line and Diaz agreed.

"Most of the time this place is so busy, every time I come here, there's a lot of people going in and out. So, it's going to create a big thing if it's a long time," Diaz said.

At Hayat Pharmacy, there were concerns they would not be able to fill prescriptions, but they can.

"Our credit card transactions are going through normally, so that's a good thing," Hayat Pharmacy Founder Dr. Hashim Zaibak said.

However, Zaibak said the system to buy medications to stock their shelves is down, but their vendors are being understood.

"We contacted the wholesalers, and the wholesalers are saying they should be able to ship us drugs normally on Monday., even though there are not going to be any payments made today or Monday because of this issue " he said. "They understand this is a nationwide issue."
