Milwaukee Admirals gear up for home opener Saturday against Rockford Icehogs
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee Admirals are back and after last week’s win against the Chicago Wolves – they’re hoping to secure another win tonight against the Rockford Icehogs.
The sweet sound of the buzzer is the only thing Milwaukee Admirals fans want to hear.
“They love Milwaukee. Our players love it here. We have a great owner. Milwaukee is an unbelievable city,” said Charlie Larson, the Milwaukee Admirals director of communications
The hockey team is setting the rink for their home opener this weekend. Fans at the home opener game will get Admirals towels and a schedule magnet. Larson says the team, which was relatively new last year, has several rookies and veterans returning.
“It’s their livelihood. It’s everything that they do. They work four, five, six months on the off season for this,” said Larson.
After record attendance last season, the team is hoping to keep on building up.
“We made it to the Western Conference finals. We were the Central Division champions,” said Larson.
Working hard isn’t just limited to just on the ice, it’s also about keeping the fans engaged in the stands.
“Whether it's the video board or Roscoe throwing T-shirts or JJ with the Zamboni,” said Larson.
So, when you head to the game, there are a just a few rules to keep in mind.
“When people come, we just want them to bring their energy. It’s opening night. Let’s get loud, let’s have some fun,” said Larson.
Most of all, Larson says root for an Admirals win.
The Admirals home opener is this Saturday at 6 p.m. Tickets are available online.
