MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A Milwaukee alderman is still in shock after a stray bullet entered his home over the weekend.
Fourth District Alderman Robert Bauman wants the community to know that not even elected officials are immune to gun violence.
On Sunday, around 2:30 p.m. a car traveling on West Kilbourn fired shots. One of the bullets penetrated Bauman's home, traveled through a picture frame, eventually getting lodged into one of the walls.
"It was pretty shocking because my wife was literally 10 feet from where the bullet entered the house, so yes it was a pretty shocking event," Bauman said. "There are shooting incidents in the neighborhood, but this is the first time my house has been struck."
Though shocking and potentially dangerous, Bauman said the incident is another way he can relate to his constituents.
"It allows me to really emphasize with what hundreds, maybe thousands of Milwaukee citizens experience on a regular basis in their neighborhoods. So many people are impacted by gun violence, whether directly through injury or damage to their property, or just loss of peace of mind," he said.
No one was hurt and the incident remains under investigation.
