A Milwaukee Alderman wants city libraries to stay open later.
Khalif Rainey is asking the library systems to take a look at the cost and feasibility of keeping some branches open as late as midnight so more people who work unusual hours have access to them.
Rainey says library branches in the city have evolved beyond just center of learning.
He says they and the activities they house are a positive alternative to negative behaviors.
He sees libraries as part of Milwaukee's public safety strategy.
