NOW: Milwaukee Auto Show returns to the Baird Center, experts say it’s a good time to buy

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) — Purchasing a new vehicle is one of life's biggest financial decisions. If you are in the market for a car, experts say it's not a bad time to buy.

"Prices are slowly coming down, and incentives are slowly coming back," said Eric Brandt, Senior Editor at Autotrader.

Brandt says after a rocky few years with supply chain issues, even used cars have become more affordable.

"Cars are depreciating at a normal rate rather than a couple of years ago," said Brandt.

Earlier this month, President Trump signed an executive order putting 25% tariffs on steel and aluminum.

"That just creates another incentive to manufacture cars in North America that kind of just in case anything changes with tariffs," said Brandt.

The Trump Administration wants to move more car production to the United States. Brandt says there are already a lot of foreign car brands that are manufactured in the U.S.

"So even though labor generally is more expensive in the U.S. than maybe it is overseas, it's still possible build and sell an affordable car right here in the U.S.," Brandt explained.

At the Baird Center, it's all about cars at the Milwaukee Auto Show

"It's a good chance to see the sheer variety of new cars on the market right now," said Brandt.

The Milwaukee Auto Show runs until Sunday, March 2. For show times and tickets click here.
