MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- On Wednesday, the Milwaukee Brewers clinched the 2024 National League Central crown, claiming their fourth division title in the last seven seasons.

And now fans might have even more to look forward to.

Todd Elliott is a self-proclaimed sports fanatic who is stepping up to the plate with a grand slam of an idea.

"People love their racing sausages," Elliott told CBS 58's Ellie Nakamoto-White, laughingly.

Elliott and his family previously lived in Milwaukee from 2005 to 2008 before they ended up moving to Philadelphia.

The distance, however, didn't stop them from rooting for the Brew Crew over the years.

"I would love to sometime come back and actually run as one of the sausages!" Elliott said.

Recently, Elliott had attempted to use a LEGO building software to create Philly's sports mascots.

"Then I was looking for another opportunity, and I was walking around the house, and I saw [the sausages] and I go, eureka!" Elliott recalled.

After just a few hours, Elliott had cooked up his own starting lineup -- a LEGO version of Bratwurst, Polish, Italian, Hot Dog, and Chorizo.

While his kids encouraged him to post his renderings on several Reddit pages online, he also decided to upload the designs on the LEGO Ideas website -- an online community where users can potentially have their creations actually come to life.

"So just doing that, within the first day, I had 100 votes," Elliott said. "I know everybody who lives in Milwaukee loves their sports teams. They love the city of Milwaukee, and anything that kind of ties them to it, they're just on board."

As a thank you, he went back and designed Bernie Brewer as the sixth and final addition to the proposed set.

But now the clock is ticking.

Elliott's racing sausages have to receive 10,000 votes for LEGO to even consider making them. Right now, he's just over 1,000.

The good news though? He has about a year and a half left to garner the rest of the support and hit a home run.

"What I'd love to see is for this idea to get to 10,000 votes by the end of December, because if it's in the January review, and they actually decide to build it, this set could probably be available before the next Brewers season starts," Elliott said. "I'd really love to see them on a shelf somewhere, at least at the Brewers stadium, where people could go up and actually buy them."
