MILWAUKEE (CBS58) -- The city's common council plans to vote on the 2018 budget plan Friday afternoon.
Last week, the common council worked on amendments to Mayor Tom Barrett's proposed budget plan. Aldermen went back and forth approving and denying amendments. Several proposals were introduced to redirect money to pay for police officer positions and keep fire stations open.
Barrett has proposed cutting 33 police officers and 75 firefighters as well as close six fire stations.
