MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A discussion was held Monday to officially oppose the state's plan to use county money for renovations of American Family Field. This time, support was unanimous.
The Brewers' current stadium lease expires in 2030, and state leaders on both sides of the aisle have floated the idea of using public money to pay for any fixes.
But Milwaukee County supervisors say it's hypocritical to keep the county from accessing shared revenue funds, then also force them to use hundreds of millions of dollars on the stadium.
"You know legislation is bad when both the socialist and the conservative on the board agree enough to sign onto the same resolution, opposing it," said Ryan Clancy, Milwaukee County District 4 supervisor.
"Potentially, you're going to put a referendum of a sales tax to the voters, but not this? Not this? There's a little hypocrisy there," said Vice Chairman Steve Taylor.
The measure opposing the stadium funding passed committee 5-0 and will also go to the full board for a vote.
