Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors enacts 0.4% sales tax increase

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors cast their votes in favor of a resolution for a new 0.4% county sales and use tax.

This will raise the county sales tax from 0.5% to 0.9%.

The resolution, penned by Chairwoman Marcelia Nicholson, gained approval with a majority of 15-3 votes and will be effective from January 1, 2024.

Chairwoman Marcelia Nicholson, Supervisors Deanna Alexander, Caroline Gómez-Tom, Peter Burgelis, Priscilla E. Coggs-Jones, Willie Johnson, Jr., Patti Logsdon, Felesia A. Martin, Juan Miguel Martinez, Shawn Rolland, Steven Shea, Anthony Staskunas, Liz Sumner, Kathleen Vincent and Sheldon A. Wasserman all voted in favor of the resolution.

Supervisors Ryan Clancy, Sequanna Taylor and Steve Taylor voted against it.
