MILWAUKEE, (CBS 58) -- Governor Evers has officially endorsed Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley in the Wisconsin Governor primary.

Crowley made the special announcement he has rejoined the Governor's race Saturday Morning during a campaign event at Milwaukee's 3rd Street Market.

Crowley will be reentering on the democratic side with remaining candidates Francesca Hong and former Lt. Governor Mandela Barnes. This after candidate Sara Rodriguez dropped out of the race on Friday.

The winner of the primary on August 11th will advance to the general election against Republican Tom Tiffany.

Crowley's endorsement marks the first time ever that Governor Evers has endorsed a primary candidate.

In response to the announcement, The Republican Governors Association released the following statement, saying in part:

“Tom Tiffany is fighting to lower property taxes, protect Wisconsin land, and require health care price transparency. The choice is clear for Wisconsinites: commonsense versus crazy." said RGA Communications Director Kollin Crompton
