2 women killed by hit-and-run driver near 20th and Teutonia

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee police have released details into a vehicle they say is connected to a deadly hit-and-run near 20th and Center.
The crash happened late Sunday night. Amy Austin, 49, and May Daiber, 48, were killed.
Police now say they are looking for a black 2007-2014 GMC Yukon with unknown registration plates. The vehicle will likely have damage to the front grill, bumper, passenger side headline, and missing the front "GMC" grill emblem.
The vehicle was last seen traveling southeast from the 3700 block of Teutonia Avenue.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of this vehicle is urged to contact Milwaukee police at 414-935-7360.

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) — Police are looking for the driver who hit and killed two women on Milwaukee's north side.
The women were crossing Teutonia Avenue near 20th St. just after 11 p.m. Sunday night when they were struck by a car in a hit-and-run.
Family members tell us 49-year-old Amy Austin and her best friend, 48-year-old May Daiber, were the two women killed.
A report from the Milwaukee County medical examiner said the women were crossing the street when they were hit by two racing cars.
A witness told us the women were headed to Shananigans bar for karaoke night.
"They were coming here obviously to have fun, smiles on their faces, and in a split second, life is gone," said David Young, who watched the tragedy unfold Sunday night.
He saw a speeding, black SUV crash into Austin and Daiber, showing no sign of stopping.
"The SUV kind of sped up, you know, and just kept going," said Young.
He immediately ran into the street, attempting to stop traffic. That's when he watched a second car hit Daiber. He said that car also did not stop.
Bar patrons came out to help Young block traffic.
"Some were pulling their cars up to kind of stop people from driving over the bodies," he described.
First responders attempted CPR, but both women died at the scene.
Young said he would see Austin and Daiber at Shananigans often, usually playing in a pool league.
"In the pool community, some of us see each other more than we see our own families," said Reggie Stephens, a fellow pool player and friend of Austin.
He stopped by the scene Monday morning to pay respects.
"All you can use is the word 'beautiful.' I mean, not only in appearance, but also in person," Stephens said of Austin.
A small memorial is growing at the scene near Shananigans, where loved ones have placed flowers, balloons, and cards.
Family and friends are calling on the driver to take accountability.
"Come forward. You can't live with this on yourself. There's no way," Stephens said. "If you can, then you're not human."
Despite the medical examiner's report of two "racing" vehicles hitting Austin and Daiber, the Milwaukee Police Department said they're looking for one unknown driver, and a black SUV.
