WAUWATOSA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office is in the giving spirit.
Milwaukee County Sheriff Denita Ball and deputy sheriffs went turkey shopping Friday morning, Nov. 17 -- and went all out!
At Wauwatosa's Metcalfe's Market, they loaded up a van from floor to roof with turkeys, meal kits, and all the fixings of a great Thanksgiving dinner.
After the team loaded up, the off-duty deputies that were there started to sort and box them for a round of giveaways.
"I hope what we're doing brings joy to them and because of the efforts today it translates to more good things that will happen to them," said Sheriff Ball.
Around 200 turkeys and other supplies were bought and will be part of the sheriff's office's annual giveaway event on Monday, Nov. 20.
It'll be held at the King Park Community Center featuring more than 1,000 turkeys and meal kits for families in need.
All the food bought was paid for by the deputy's union.
